Information
Lu Araújo leads Lu Araújo Produções Artísticas, Lume Arte – Marketing Cultural, the publishing house and record label Crioula Records, and the agency Memories & Heritage Arts, based in Porto, standing out for her continuous contribution to intercultural dialogue and the strengthening of the creative economy in both countries.
With over 35 years of experience, Lu Araújo is a reference in the cultural market in Brazil and Portugal, distinguished by the originality, artistic excellence, and technical rigor of the projects she leads. A profound connoisseur of the world of music and artistic creation, she has built a career marked by strategic vision, social impact, and institutional recognition, accumulating awards and distinctions on both sides of the Atlantic.
The landmark of her career came when she conceived and implemented the MIMO Festival, today one of the largest free music festivals in the world. In 21 years, the festival has held 65 editions in Brazilian cities such as Olinda, Ouro Preto, Tiradentes, Paraty, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, and Itabira; in Portugal, in the cities of Amarante and Porto; and internationally in Glasgow (2017) and Marciac, France (2025). Throughout this journey, it has surpassed 2.1 million spectators and carried out more than 1,900 activities, occupying historic cities with concerts, cinema, educational initiatives, and activities in emblematic heritage spaces — all free to the public.
In Portugal, within the scope of MIMO, she signed the production coordination of important exhibitions at the Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso Museum, such as Abstracção – Arte Partilhada and Os Modernistas – Amigos e Contemporâneos de Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso, bringing together works by central figures of Portuguese modernity. In Brazil, she conceived and curated the largest exhibition ever held on Pixinguinha, presented at CCBB Brasília, in addition to having conceived books, records, and films dedicated to the composer — among them the Pixinguinha Series, the CD/DVD Mundo de Pixinguinha (featuring Wynton Marsalis, Richard Galliano, and Chucho Valdés), and the documentary Nós Somos um Poema.
Her work has been recognized with several awards, including the Brazil Ibermúsicas Award 2025 for the impact and dissemination of Brazilian music abroad, and Brazilian Popular Music awards. She is regularly invited to conferences and seminars of great relevance, having participated in ISPA – International Society for the Performing Arts (New York) and served as a mentor for the ASA Program – Arte Sónica Amplificada.
