THE STARTUP
Zoomguide is an intelligent platform that transforms how cities and cultural heritage are explored. Developed for museums, tourism organizations, and visitors, it integrates augmented reality, 3D maps, gamification, and AI-powered visual recognition to create immersive experiences, even in offline mode. With a strong focus on accessibility, including for people with visual and hearing disabilities and children, Zoomguide is an inclusive and intuitive solution, available as a web application with no need for installations or downloads.
WHO WILL BE AT THE INNOVATION CAFE?
At the intersection of engineering and cultural heritage, Afonso Cunha launched Zoomguide, a digital platform that helps people explore cultural heritage and cities. With over 10 years of experience in software engineering and product development in Portugal, Canada, and the United States, he brings a diverse perspective to innovation in tourism and culture.
In 2021, he founded Zoomguide with the goal of making cultural experiences more interactive and accessible through technology. His background in technology and product development, combined with a passion for cultural heritage, drives Zoomguide’s mission to make cultural heritage more accessible and engaging for everyone, including people with disabilities.
Afonso holds a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) and a Master’s degree in Software Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP).
